Kilimanjaro: Why we challenge ourselves.
So, for my 40th year I decided a challenge was in order. I have thought long and hard about why - especially in the weeks leading up to it, and very much during the toughest parts, although in a slightly stronger worded way......something along the lines of 'why the F**k am I doing this to myself when I could have chosen to lie on a beach in the sun?'. Trust me, that question went around my head a lot in the last week! I know my fellow Kili trekkers will say the same - let's face it, at the time it was hell! So why do we do it? I know the factual reasons for doing it. 1. A party didn't seem a big enough way to celebrate how grateful I feel to be turning 40. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a good party and LOVE nothing more than spending time with friends.
